Joe started his jumping career with British owner Cyril Light at the Brendon Stud in his twenties. He has been riding for owners Ludwig and Jasmin Criel for seven years.
When he started riding his hero was John Whitaker and Milton. “John’s still a legend, isn’t he? But now, there are so many good riders at the top shows — people like Kevin Staut, Scott Brash. I think they’re superstars.”
Utamaro D’Ecaussines and the mare Diablesse De Muze are among his best horses.
Joe has become a Nation's Cup regular on the British team and he has collected some great World Cup Qualifier results over the last few years.
Joe is based in Belgium, with his Dutch wife and their three children. His brother-in-law is German showjumping star Daniel Deusser.
