Biography

William is born into the Whitaker showjumping dynasty. He is the nephew of John and Michael Whitaker and the son of Ian, the only brother who doesn’t showjump. William grew up surrounded by horses and won his very first showjumping championship at the age of 12 with his pony Mystic Starlight Express. Two years later, he won the Junior Foxhunter and in 2005 the Junior Showjumper of the Year.

By taking home individual Gold (and team bronze) medal as a junior and later the team gold and bronze as a young rider, William rose the steps to enter senior level. He competed in his first 5* show in 2009 in Hickstead and represented the British flags a lot since during Nations Cup and championships; and won his first 5* class in 2013 in Hickstead again. Since this time, William got a few victories of which the World Cup in Stuttgart in 2014 and the World Cup in London Olympia back in December 2018.
