Day 2: top performances at TIA

May 10, 2016
The second day of the first event at Tops International Arena saw several riders confirm their form as they repeated their winning performance today.

The CSI2* Big Tour competition, counting for the Longines Rankings, was won by Dutch rider Harrie Smolders. He was the fastest with the 11-year-old gelding Aiyetoro (KWPN, Concorde x Colino). Belgium’s Pieter Devos was in the lead for a long time with Haloubet Hitchcock (BWP, Baloubet du Rouet x Heartbreaker), but at the end he had to settle for third place. Switzerland’s Fabio Crotta took risks to beat Smolder’s time but lacked some speed and finished runner-up.

Top scorer so far is Italy’s Emanuele Gaudiano, who won two classes yesterday and this morning he also won the second competition for six-year-olds with Darlanda. The five-year-old division was won by Dutch rider Sander Geerink with Galita O. Belgium’s Stephanie Andries took top honours in the seven-year-old competition with Javenia.

Alexander Hufenstuhl (Germany), Tim Wilks (Great Britain) and Malin Parmler (Sweden) experienced their second victory today. Malin won the CSI2* Medium Tour with Dagma, Tim won the CSI2* Medium Tour with Inca Boy van ’t Vianahof and Alexander was in front in the CSI1* Big Tour competition with Desteny.
Anne Botella and her horse Thydia Dhere secured a victory for France in the CSI1* Small Tour (1.15m) class. Today’s last competition, the CSI1* Medium Tour, was won by Belgium’s Patrick Jongmans and Hip Hop Van Langwater.

Tomorrow another 9 competitions are scheduled and the first combinations will enter the arenas of the beautiful facilities I Valkenswaard at 8 am.
