September 18, 2024

The highly anticipated second edition of the WBFHS Studbooks Jumping Global Champions Trophy at the Longines Tops International Arena is fast approaching. We take a look at some of the elite studbooks that will head to Valkenswaard to take part in this prestigious event September 27-29, 2024.

KWPN

Modern sporthorses.

The KWPN (Studbook of the Royal Dutch Sport Horse) is a Netherlands-based organization specializing in the breeding of jumpers, dressage horses, harness horses, and Gelder horses. Performance, durability, and attractive conformation are the most important actors on which the international success of the Dutch horse is based. The quality of the KWPN horse is renowned and praised worldwide. With 20.000 members and approximately 11.000 new foals each year, the KWPN is one of the largest sporthorse studbooks in the world and a very successful one. For years, the KWPN has held a top position in the WBFSH studbook rankings.

The goal of the KWPN is the breeding of sporthorses that perform at the top level of international equestrian sports. Likewise, it aims to breed healthy horses that happily and easily do what is expected of them. In recent years, the KWPN has amongst others produced the Olympic champions Explosion W, Big Star and Valegro. Glamourdale, Parzival and Gio won Olympic medals, and many KWPN-horses took part in winning Olympic team medals. Last year the KWPN-team of seven-year-olds won the WBFSH Studbooks Jumping Global Champions Trophy. We are looking forward to taking part in this year’s edition!

Springpferdezuchtverband Oldenburg-International

The vision: top sport is our goal

Springpferdezuchtverband Oldenburg-International (OS) was founded on May 23, 2001. In the meantime, OS has grown enormously.

There was a clear objective when the Verband was founded: OS was to focus exclusively on breeding show jumpers for upper-level competitions. That’s not really surprising when you hear the names of the founding directors. Right from the beginning, Paul Schockemöhle from Mühlen has been Chairman. Also onboard were Gilbert Böckmann from Lastrup and Gerd Sosath from Lemwerder, the latter of which is still the deputy chairman of the board.

Breeding first class show jumpers for international sport is the declared goal. In accordance with this principle, especially high standards are set at OS on the ability of the horse to jump, its willingness to perform, rideability, reaction speed as well as robustness health-wise. OS concentrates its breeding endeavors on bringing the best performance genes together to promote improvements in breeding as quickly as possible.

At OS, great value is placed on stallions and mares that have already proved themselves in competitions. Examples of some OS success guarantors are Greya, who placed fourth at the World Cup Final in Riyadh under Kent Farrington, and shooting star First Lady, who won numerous international show jumping competitions under McLain Ward.

SBS Studbook - The Belgian Sport Horse

There would be no exciting horse competitions without quality horses!

Initially started in 1920 under the name of “The Society for Encouraging the Breeding of Army Horses”, our studbook evolved continuously throughout the years, and in 1991 became the Royal Society Belgian Sport Horse – SBS Studbook as we know it today, ranking in the top studbooks worldwide.

A studbook would be nothing without its breeders: the passion, the expertise and the know-how of our breeders result in them excelling in producing horses that qualify for the highest levels in the sport and are truly appreciated by the best riders in the world: Olympic Champions, World Champions, and many others. The excellent reputation of the Belgian Sport Horse is firmly established within the sports’ sphere. Among the greatest SBS ambassadors, let’s mention ALL-IN (Kashmir van Schuttershof x Andiamo), 2 Individual Silver medals in the past Olympic Games (2016 & 2021) a Team Gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics 2021 and much more Champion titles along his career with Peder Fredriscon (SWE), HH AZUR GARDEN’S HORSES (E.O.) (Thunder van de Zuuthoeve x Sir Lui), ranked in the individual top 10 of the Olympic Games in 2016, winner of the World Cup finals of Omaha in 2017 and several other Grand Prix and World’s championships with McLain Ward (USA).
